Carisbrooke Castle

Begun about 1100, Carisbrooke Castle has continuously developed to meet the needs of its users. It was famously used to detain Charles I in 1647-48, and in the early 20th century was the residence of Princess Beatrice, the founder of the Museum. The Museum collections contain many artworks and photographs of the Castle and associated people.
